Food delivery by drone tested by German aerospace center DLR

German aerospace center DLR has tested food delivery by drone in hard-to-reach areas with flights of its SuperARTIS autonomous helicopter in the Dominican Republic with the Dutch company Wings for Aid and the United Nations World Food Program.

The project team tested a new delivery concept, which uses a specially developed cardboard disposable box. When the UAS drops its payload, its side surfaces open to slow and stabilize the case. Read more
